Best Ways of Recycling Paper Scrap
Recycling continues to thrive as an industry as more people and organizations are taking measures to reduce their environmental impact. It encompasses different segments, with paper as one of the biggest! It involves the recovery of processing of paper scrap to be reused in making new paper products, and this can make a significant impact on minimizing waste. For instance, manufacturing recycled copy paper could save 100 percent of the trees, 53 percent of water, and 31 percent energy, while generating 39 percent less solid waste.
Types of paper scrap
Most types of paper are recyclable, but there are those that are not usually accepted in collection bins, such as carbon paper, craft and brown envelopes, candy wrappers, tissues, paper towels, pizza boxes, and coffee cups. The most commonly recycled products include magazines, newsprint, cardboard, office paper, booklets, and manuals. Once these are collected and transported to the recycling plant, they are sorted into their respective categories.
Some companies offer OCC waste paper scrap for use as raw materials to manufacture various types of paper products. OCC stands for ‘Old Corrugated Containers’ or ‘Old Corrugated Cardboard’ and the material is also recyclable for further use.
Ways to recycle scrap papers
There are many ways to recycle these types of paper products. For instance, OCC waste scraps can be recycled into new corrugated cardboard boxes for use in packaging. As more people are relying on e-commerce and home delivery services, the demand for such packaging solutions has increased.
If
you have some brown or craft paper, don’t chuck it out soon. As long as it’s
still in fairly good shape, it could still be used for wrapping presents, for
labeling, or as disposable place mats. Old office documents and bills may be
shredded and the paper scrap can
become cushioning for fragile items that are placed in a box. That way, you can
eliminate the need to use too much plastic bubble wrap.
